The road to the Olympics can lead to some heartbreaking injuries – Nick Jonas can confirm.

The singer remained mysterious after taking a “puncture on a bike” that left him with a “cracked rib” under “other bumps and bruises” this spring. Now fans know that the injury was a result of him competing against his brothers in several Olympic sports for NBC’s “Olympic Dreams featuring Jonas Brothers.”

In the special, which aired Wednesday night, the “Voice” coach joined his brothers, Joe Jonas and Kevin Jonas, in competing in hurdles, gymnastics and BMX races, the latter of which caused an injury that left the youngest member of the Jonas landed Brothers in the hospital.

“When you think of BMX, you think of cycling. Most of us can ride a bike, but this is another level,” he thought before trying to train on the track for the first time. His brothers agreed: Joe Jonas said he was terrified, while Kevin Jonas called the sport “no joke.”

Although he was “intimidated” at first, Nick Jonas soon started warming up to BMX racing and felt “really good on the bike,” he said. “Right now I feel pretty good.”

But on race day it went downhill.

Nick Jonas pulled into the first corner of the race and took the lead. But shortly after, the front wheel of his bike slipped, landing the singer hard on his life side. Joe and Kevin Jonas both fell over trying not to land on him.

The youngest Jonas Brother sat on his knees for a moment before standing up. “I (expletive) on my back,” he told his brothers. Kevin Jonas advised him not to try to walk while the medics approached him.

“I think my rib is also (expletive) up,” he added. Shortly after, you could see him shiver while strapped to a stretcher as EMTs heaved him into an ambulance.

“I think the tape speaks for itself. I always give 110%, and sometimes you get the gold,” Nick Jonas said afterwards in a fake press conference. “In this case I got a broken rib, a bruised tailbone and a dinner in the hospital. But I’m recovering. Thanks for asking, next question.”

It was tough Olympics for Nick Jonas. He also fell during the first event of the games – the hurdles race – where he clipped and tripped on a hurdle with his back foot. It looked like he hit the track with his chin before getting up and finishing the race with a flayed knee.

As for the other brothers, they survived the match without a scratch. Kevin Jonas was confident going into the competitions—the oldest JoBro was once a competitive gymnast—but it was Nick Jonas who won the gymnastics event. Kevin Jonas took home the gold in hurdles. As for the BMX race, no one was crowned the winner after the injury.

Back in May, Nick Jonas revealed at the beginning of an episode of “The Voice” that he had suffered some injuries over the weekend, but he wasn’t sure how.

“How do you feel your friend?” asked host Carson Daly.

“I feel good,” responded Nick Jonas. “I’ve been better, but I’m fine… I wanted to go ahead and say (this) in case I’m not as excited physically as I usually am.”

However, he tried to be light-hearted about it: “Blake (Shelton), please don’t make me laugh too much, because laughing hurts.”

In typical Shelton fashion, he accused Jonas of “trying to get sympathy votes.”
