The Los Angeles Clippers had important news to share with the public on Tuesday about star striker Kawhi Leonard. He recently had surgery to repair a partially torn ACL.

Leonard missed the entire Western Conference Finals because of this ACL injury. However, the seriousness of his injury was kept a secret during the playoffs.

At this time, the Clippers do not have a timetable for Leonard’s return. That’s a shame, because the two-time Finals MVP could opt out of his contract and become a free agent this summer.

Since there’s no telling when Leonard will be back on the field, Los Angeles may need to change its entire approach to this outdoor season.

“It’s really weird not knowing anything about Kawhi’s prognosis for next season, based on the nature of his surgery and timetable (which even he/the team might not know much about yet),” wrote one NBA fan. “If LAC doesn’t see 2022 as a legitimate potential title year, it will switch from free agency.”

April 2022 is nine months away. The NBA Regular season starts in October. Either through this injury or signing elsewhere, the Clippers will miss Kawhi’s regular season with their pick thanks to OKC.

While Leonard may miss the 2021-22 season due to an ACL injury, he should still be given a max contract in the open market.

After all, Kevin Durant landed a lucrative deal from the Brooklyn Nets right after his Achilles tendon injury.

Kawhi won’t play next season, but he’s still maxing out.

Some basketball fans are still baffled that Leonard’s camp has prevented leaks from his ACL surgery.

Usually such a story is made public as soon as possible. However, Leonard’s camp has proven time and again that it is a tight-knit group.

It’s bizarre that we never got an official diagnosis of Kawhi’s injury.

His camp is impenetrable.

Before sustaining a torn ACL, Leonard was the Clippers’ top scorer in the playoffs. He finished the 2020-21 season with averages of 24.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game.

Colin Cowherd, meanwhile, thinks the Clippers would sign a one-year deal for Leonard.

“The Clippers are not a desperate team anymore…I think the Clippers would take a private 1-year deal with Kawhi.”

Do you think Leonard will leave Los Angeles this off-season?
