Controversial actor Mel Gibson greeted former President Donald Trump on Saturday, as they both attended a UFC game near Las Vegas.

Gibson, known for starring in “The Patriot” and “Braveheart,” was captured making the military gesture at Trump as the former president walked through the crowd and waved.

The clip drew widespread comment on social media as it circulated the next round The Loss of Conor McGregor to Dustin Poirier.

Gibson, 65, was previously not a known Trump supporter. He rejected Trump’s plan for a US-Mexico border wall in 2016 and didn’t back him vocally in 2020 β€” unlike more powerful Hollywood Trump supporters like Kirstie Alley and Jon Voight, who routinely promoted Trump’s reelection campaign.

even actors Vince Vaughn and Kelsey Grammar were more open than Gibson about their support for Trump.

Gibson has not publicly explained his greeting. He posted on TwitterHowever, that he was at the UFC game with his sons Ed, Will and Tommy.

Trump is considering a resit against President Biden in 2024.

Gibson gained a following among devout Christians by directing the 2004 film “The Passion of the Christ,” but he has been socially stigmatized for a string of anti-Jewish remarks, including a drunken diatribe in 2006 in which he told a police officer, “Fβ€” king Jews…the Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world. Are you a Jew?”

Gibson claimed that infamous comment was “just the stupid chatter of a drunkard,” but he later faced additional bizarre claims of anti-Jewish bias.
