A new trailer in front of Ryan Reynolds‘ often pandemic-delayed action comedy Free Guy just came out, and Killing Eve Emmy winner Jodie Comer is central.
Ryan plays an everyday bank teller who doesn’t realize that the hyper-violent world he happily lives in is actually a dangerous Grand Theft Auto-esque video game—until Comer’s in-game avatar, Molotov Girl, shows up.
With the help of special glasses, Guy gets a new perspective on his life and learns how a game designer troll played by Oscar winner Taika Waititi, plans to destroy it in the real world.
Pursued by the designer’s villains in-game, Guy and Molotov Girl fight back and lead a rebellion from within – but because it’s all a game, Night at the Museum series director’s action Shawn Levy is littered with power-ups and other insane visuals.
The trailer, both on Mariah Carey‘s “Fantasy” and The WHO‘s “Baba O’Riley,” also features Ryan’s other co-stars: Lil Rel Howery from Exit and Joe Keery, who collaborated with Levy on Stranger Things.
Free Guy hits theaters August 13 from 20th Century Studios, which is owned by Disney, the parent company of ABC News.
