But what can we all agree on? Water is your best friend.

The acetaminophen or ibuprofen debate is one way to start a heated bar discussion, especially since there are plenty of people who swear by the painkillers as their ultimate hangover cure.

But despite popular opinion, anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen are actually a better alternative for a hangover than the beloved acetaminophen.

The popular herbal remedy contains the antioxidant silymarin that protects the liver from possible alcohol-related damage.

So if you take a few milk thistle tablets before your night out, you can save yourself a lot of grief the next morning.

But does it really work? The jury is still out on it.

Research has shown that milk thistle is more effective in heavy drinkers because the body metabolizes alcohol differently than those who don’t drink as regularly.
