One of the most exciting additions that the Caves & Cliffs Part 1 update has brought to Minecraft is the Axolotls. This crowd is found in waters in dark caves. However, if you are lucky enough to find them, they can be bred if you want to create more. That said, don’t expect to breed them with an easy to grow commodity like wheat or carrots, it’s a bit more niche than that. Here’s how to breed the Axolotl crowd in Minecraft.
Axolotls love tropical fish. Players can lure and breed Axolotls using a bucket of tropical fish. Feeding a bucket to each parent with the result that a baby Axolotl is bred. In addition to the baby Axolotls, the player also gains experience ranging between 1 and 7 points.
Axolotls come in five different colors, and generally the baby Axolotl will randomly inherit the color of one parent. You can’t mix colors like with Sheep. The only exception to this rule is if you get a rare blue Axolotl, which is a mutation that can come from any Axolotl with a chance of 1/1200.
Adults can be bred every 5 minutes. Baby Axolotls take 20 minutes to mature, but that time can be reduced by 10% for every bucket of tropical fish you feed them. Feeding them 10 buckets in a row will make them fully mature without any waiting time.
