Ethan Suplee told Joe Rogan that he still struggles with body image ...

Yesterday in an interview The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, actor Ethan Suplee described his long journey to a healthier life, revealing that he sometimes struggles to appreciate how far he has come.

Looking back at photos of himself at his worst, Suplee opened up some of the negative feelings he still faces. “It’s incredibly satisfying, but look,” he said. “The reality is I have mental illness and I don’t look at myself and don’t think, ‘God, I look great.’ I only see negative things every day and I try to convince myself. ”

When asked when he first started experiencing feelings of body dysmorphism, Suplee remembered going on a diet at the age of five and heard people tell him his appearance was wrong. “I wasn’t obese at five. I was a chubby five-year-old, but I was super active,” he said. “I didn’t eat junk food all day.”

To help improve his mindset, Suplee said he is now focusing on the benefits he has most happily achieved since undergoing his dramatic fitness transformation. “Usually it’s my traps. I can watch my traps because [they’re] skinny – not a lot of loose skin hanging there. Not all are marked by surgery. I look at my traps and say, “Okay, that looks good.” And based on that, I can start to feel good about myself. “

Suplee is also recording a popular podcast of their own, American wolverine, where he invites guests to talk about their own weight loss experiences and regularly posts inspirational photos and motivational words to his Instagram account. His journey to self-acceptance is proof that no matter how strong your body is, you also need to get your mind the right way.
