Bill Gates and his wife Melinda – two of the world’s most powerful philanthropists – are ending their marriage. For the past two decades, through their self-proclaimed foundation, the couple has pushed for causes ranging from global health to education. The couple, along with billionaire investor Warren Buffett, also founded The Giving Pledge, a campaign that encouraged wealthy people to give away most of their money.

In a statement, the foundation said the couple would continue to shape the organization’s strategies, defend its goals and set its direction. Bill Gates is 65, Melinda Gates is 56.

Jennifer Gates, the couple’s eldest daughter, shared a statement via Instagram Stories that read, in part, β€œIt has been a challenging time for our entire family. I am still learning how best to support my own process and emotions. this moment. “
